Moscow launched 142 attack and decoy drones overnight, striking multiple Ukrainian cities, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
Explosions rocked Kherson, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro during the large-scale assault.
Out of the drones launched, 16 reached ten different targets, while Ukrainian defenses successfully destroyed 126.
Officials confirmed two deaths and 14 injuries in Kherson, where nine houses, a gas station, cars, and public buildings suffered damage.
Medical and educational facilities, as well as an administrative building, were also hit in the city.
Odesa Faces Blackouts After Strikes
In Odesa, one person sustained injuries, and the city of Chornomorsk saw the worst destruction.
District Governor Oleg Kiper said the strikes caused severe damage to energy infrastructure in the Black Sea port city.
At least 29,000 residents lost electricity following the bombardment.
“Restoration work has already begun. Critical infrastructure is powered by generators,” Kiper wrote on Telegram.
The attack marks the third major Russian assault on Ukraine within one week.
Zelenskyy Reports Heavy Russian Losses
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Pokrovsk region in Donetsk remains the main battleground.
He stated that Russian forces have concentrated their greatest efforts in that area.
“Our units continue to carry out their assigned tasks in Donetsk and systematically destroy the occupier,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.
He reported that Russia has lost more than 290,000 soldiers killed or severely wounded in the first eight months of 2025.
Warnings Over Escalating Conflict
Zelenskyy said Russia’s repeated large-scale strikes show Moscow’s determination to prolong the war.
He emphasized that without firm international pressure, the conflict will not end.
Ukraine’s leadership continues to call for stronger global support to counter Russia’s attacks and secure energy infrastructure.
The strikes on civilian homes, schools, and hospitals underline the growing humanitarian toll.
International observers say the Pokrovsk battles highlight both Ukraine’s defensive strength and Russia’s willingness to sustain heavy losses.
Despite relentless bombardments, Ukrainian officials remain committed to holding the front lines and maintaining civilian resilience.
