Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie named as footballer allegedly threatened at gunpoint

Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent in north London.

The incident reportedly took place in Cockfosters Parade, Barnet, on the night of 6 September, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, as well as blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while investigations continue.

The suspect is not Udogie’s agent, and no charges have yet been filed. The Met Police confirmed no one was injured.

Tottenham said in a statement: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”

Udogie, who was not called up for Italy during that break, returned to action the following week, coming off the bench in Spurs’ league win over West Ham and starting in Tuesday’s Champions League game against Copenhagen.
