Jaguar Land Rover Begins Phased Restart After Cyber-Attack Shutdown

Jaguar Land Rover has begun a gradual restart of its UK factories, more than a month after a major cyber-attack halted production.

The hack, which struck on 31 August, forced the company to suspend operations and disrupted global sales and supply chains.

JLR reported a 17% drop in retail sales and a 24% fall in wholesale deliveries for the last quarter.

“Tomorrow marks an important moment,” said CEO Adrian Mardell. “Our recovery is firmly under way.”

Production is resuming at sites in Wolverhampton, Solihull, Hams Hall, Halewood, and Slovakia’s Nitra plant.

To ease pressure on suppliers, JLR launched a new financing scheme offering faster upfront payments during the restart.

The UK government has pledged a £1.5bn loan guarantee to support the carmaker’s supply chain, though funds are yet to be released.

Business secretary Peter Kyle called the restart “welcome news” and vowed continued support for the industry’s recovery.
