President Donald Trump said the United States is targeting Iranian capabilities connected to the Strait of Hormuz as military tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise. His comments came during remarks to reporters at the White House on Monday as the US confirmed new military operations involving Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important shipping routes. A significant share of global oil and natural gas supplies passes through the narrow waterway each day. Any military activity in the area is closely watched by governments and financial markets because of its potential impact on global trade and energy prices.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the United States was taking action against Iranian capabilities linked to the strategic waterway. He did not provide additional operational details or identify specific targets.

Earlier on Monday, the US military confirmed that it had launched fresh strikes against Iran. Officials have not released further information about the scope of the operation or the locations involved.

Despite the renewed military action, Trump said he has not ruled out the possibility of reaching a negotiated settlement with Tehran. He indicated that diplomatic efforts remain possible, even as military operations continue.

The president said discussions could still take place if circumstances allow, suggesting that diplomacy and military pressure are both being considered as part of the administration’s approach toward Iran.

During the same exchange with reporters, Trump also commented on reports involving possible Iranian drone activity in Cuba. He said the United States is examining the situation but did not present evidence confirming the reports.

Trump stated that if Iranian drones are found to be present, the United States would respond appropriately. He added that officials are currently reviewing available information and monitoring the matter closely.

No US government agency has publicly confirmed the existence of Iranian drones in Cuba. Cuban authorities and Iranian officials had not publicly responded to Trump’s comments at the time of his remarks.

The latest developments come during a period of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. Military operations, diplomatic efforts, and regional security concerns continue to shape relations between the two countries.

International observers are also watching the situation because any disruption around the Strait of Hormuz could affect global energy supplies and international shipping. The waterway remains one of the world’s busiest maritime routes and is considered strategically important for international commerce.

Governments across the region continue to monitor developments closely while calling for stability and efforts to reduce the risk of further escalation. Analysts say both military actions and diplomatic discussions could influence the next phase of the conflict.

US officials have not announced whether additional military operations are planned. The administration also has not provided a timeline for any future diplomatic talks with Iran.

As the situation develops, governments, energy markets, and international organizations are expected to continue monitoring events closely. Further updates are likely as US officials release additional information about military operations and any potential diplomatic initiatives.
