A South Carolina gym death case has raised new questions after officials said no visible injuries were found on a woman who disappeared after leaving a fitness center. The case involves 39 year old Elena Moore, whose body was discovered near a gym in Lexington County. Authorities say the cause of death is still unknown as investigations continue.

An autopsy was carried out at the Medical University of South Carolina, three days after her body was found. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said the examination found no signs of external trauma. This includes no bruises, cuts, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, or signs of strangulation. Officials say there were also no clear indications of blunt force injury.

Despite the findings, investigators say the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed. Further toxicology tests and medical history reviews are still underway. These tests may help explain what happened in the hours before she was found. Officials say it is too early to draw conclusions about how she died.

Elena Moore was last seen on June 11 after leaving a Planet Fitness in Lexington, South Carolina. Police say she had visited the gym that day as part of her usual routine. After leaving the facility, she was seen walking toward a wooded area behind a nearby home improvement store. Her body was later found not far from that area.

Authorities said surveillance footage also showed her in a nearby grocery store parking lot. She was wearing the same clothes she had on when she left the gym. The timeline of her movements has helped investigators piece together her final known locations. However, many gaps remain in the sequence of events.

Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green said public attention played a role in the case. He explained that media coverage of the missing person report helped generate a tip that led to the discovery of her body. Police had earlier posted a missing person flyer online asking for information from the public.

Elena Moore was reported missing shortly after she was last seen on June 11. The next day, authorities shared her photo and details on social media. Investigators confirmed she was frequently seen at the gym and in the surrounding area. This helped them trace her movements before she disappeared.

Witness accounts have added more confusion to the case. A week before she went missing, Moore was reportedly seen behaving in a confused state near an apartment building. Residents said she appeared disoriented and unsure of her actions. In one incident, she allegedly tried to enter an apartment after picking up food delivered to the wrong address.

Residents also said she was seen looking through packages outside another apartment. When questioned, she reportedly said she did not know what she was doing. These accounts have raised concerns about her mental or physical condition in the days before her disappearance. However, officials have not confirmed any medical explanation.

Investigators are now working to understand whether health issues, environmental factors, or other causes played a role. The absence of visible injuries has made the case more complex. Experts say toxicology results will be key in determining what happened. Until then, the case remains open and under active review.

Authorities have not suggested foul play at this stage. However, they have not ruled out any possibilities. Police say they are continuing to review surveillance footage, witness statements, and digital evidence. They are also asking anyone with additional information to come forward.

The South Carolina gym death has drawn attention due to the unclear circumstances surrounding the case. Families and community members are waiting for answers as investigators continue their work. Officials say more details will be released once lab results are completed and reviewed.
