    Orange Juice Influences Gene Activity

Researchers show that daily orange juice alters thousands of immune-cell genes and affects vital body processes.
Many of these genes control blood pressure, limit inflammation, and regulate sugar metabolism, which support heart health.
David C. Gaze explains that orange juice induces changes that improve cardiovascular and metabolic functions.

    Reducing Inflammation and Supporting Vessels

Adults who drank 500 ml of pasteurised orange juice daily for two months showed lower activity in stress-related genes.
Genes such as NAMPT, IL6, IL1B, NLRP3, and SGK1 became less active, promoting relaxed blood vessels.
The flavonoid hesperidin provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits and influences cholesterol, sugar metabolism, and blood pressure.
Body type modifies gene responses: overweight participants showed stronger fat-metabolism changes, while lean participants saw larger inflammation-gene reductions.

    Improving Heart Health and Metabolism

Analyses of 15 controlled studies reveal that orange juice lowers insulin resistance and LDL cholesterol, reducing heart disease risk.
Overweight participants experienced small drops in systolic blood pressure and increases in HDL, the “good” cholesterol.
Orange juice improves energy use, cell signalling, and gut bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids, supporting healthy blood pressure.
Studies show orange juice enhances endothelial function, helping vessels relax and reducing heart attack risk.
Research at a Brazilian factory found lower apo-B levels in workers, indicating fewer cholesterol-carrying particles linked to heart attack.
